We pride ourselves on not only creating Mexcellence, but sharing what we believe is Mexcellence with every single person that walks through our doors. From our staff greeting you when you walk into any of our six East Valley Phoenix locations, as well as being ready and waiting to give recommendations about our menu, answer any questions you may have, and customize any of our menu items to your liking. From there, we guide you to our famously fresh salsa bar, offering an endless variety based on your spice preference, as well as a selection of vegetables to munch on or top your favorite Mexican entree, such as gorditas and tacos.
After you place your order and gather your favorite sauces, or even a new salsa to try out, you then find a table, either inside or outside on one of our beautiful and spacious patios, sipping on your Mexican Coke, Horchata, Jamaica or other favorite beverage, while listening to a variety of Latin music – you might even find yourself singing or swaying along, being tempted to dance. Though it is not required, we completely support you moving your body in whatever way you see fit!
By the time a few minutes pass, your burritos, tostadas, or whatever your favorite Mexican item you ordered will be ready to enjoy. Whether you order a combo plate with beans and rice or all beans or all rice or not, you will also have the added bonus of free grilled onions and grilled jalapenos. All of your favorite Mexican food menu items will be made fresh, with the opportunity for you to customize them in any way you’d like. From there, it is up to you to add on chips with our secret chips, salsa, or famous refried beans for dipping. It wouldn’t be a fiesta without Mexican food – after all, fiesta is the Mexican word for party. At Backyard Taco, we are happy to provide a vast yet equally tasty variety of catering options and other items to appease any crowd, regardless of the size of the appetite or any dietary restrictions that may be present among those attending your event.
All of our Mexcellent Mexican catering bars are set up as a build-your-own experience. This allows all your guests to choose what they like, or what they may have been looking to try, without being locked into a set menu.
Up until recently, we only had the Mexcellent Taco Bar with the three-taco option, but we realized that our customers wanted more variety in not only entree options but also in amounts as well. Not only do we now have the two- and three-taco bar option, but we also have our one- and two-tostada bar, as well as our very own, which should be trademarked: the Papa Loca (Crazy Potato) bar.
Not only do you get to pick one of these delicious options, but you can choose more than one! Do you want a mixture of tacos and tostadas for your guests? Go for it. Do you want tacos with a side of our famous Mexican baked potato? Up to you! Or maybe you’re throwing an event so big that you want all three – the fact of the matter is that here at Backyard Taco, we’ve perfected Mexican catering.
No matter which Mexican catering bar you choose, you are going to get your choice between our Mesquite grilled meats: carne asada (steak), pollo asada (chicken), and al pastor (pork), as well as our show-roasted and perfectly seasoned birria (shredded beef). You will also get the associated taco toppings, diced onion, and cabbage for the carne asada and pollo asada, or diced onion and cilantro for the al pastor and the birria. We package everything with care, so it stays warm – or cold for you and doesn’t spill in our Backyard Taco branded bags. Whether it is a birthday party, Christmas party, or even a wedding reception, we can do anything. Indoor, outdoor, or a mixture of both – it doesn’t matter. We will come to your house, reception hall, or park and set up our flattop, also known as a plancha, to warm up your tortillas of choice, as well as a line of professional chafing dishes filled with your favorite Backyard Taco meats. Whether you’d like birria, al pastor, or the most common pollo asada and carne asada, we’ll have it hot, ready, and waiting for our guests.
Our team on-site will serve you and your guests, answering any questions they may have, offering suggestions, and accommodating any dietary restrictions they may have. Whether they are vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free, our team is ready to help.
After filling up their plates with tacos, refried beans and Mexican rice as well as grilled onions and jalapenos, we will send them over to the salsa bar where they get to choose from a variety of sauces like guacamole, tatemada and pico de gallo as well as limes and pickled onions for using atop the tacos and radishes and cucumbers as fresh sides to munch on.
Baskets of chips and our secret chip salsa will be placed around your destination of choice as well, for all of your guests to enjoy. There will be nearly endless amounts of food for all to enjoy, as much or as little as they would like, while chatting and enjoying the friends and family they are with, no matter what type of celebration they may be at.
We will continue to serve your guests for a few hours, making sure everyone is happy and full and enjoying your fiesta. You may even find our staff laughing and dancing along to the music you all are playing because they genuinely enjoy working these on-site events. Then, we will quietly pack up and leave you with your leftovers, either left out for self-serving or packed up ready for you to enjoy for days to come.

3.) Host Your Very Own Celebration on One of Our Backyard Taco Patios
We can go on and on about our restaurants and the welcoming, fun environment you can find in them – as well as our catering services! It is a no-brainer to host an event at our restaurants. Although we cannot close the restaurant for a private event, we can host you on one of our many beautiful patios. All of our locations, except for our original Backyard Taco location on University and Stapley Drive, can accommodate over 40 people at a time on one of our beautiful patios.
We have heaters for the cooler weather and misters for the heat, as well as speakers that play our lively music outside for all to enjoy.
We will get you set up with a self-serve catering bar that we’ll keep stocked, inclusive of your favorite Mexican entree and sides of choice, as well as chips and salsa. You also get to choose between Aguas Frescas for drinking or cups to enjoy your beverage of choice from one of our soda fountains. Your guests will also have unlimited access to the salsa bar inside, always stocked with the best salsas our team chop and blend daily.
Our team will keep everything stocked, check in on you from time to time, and then pack any leftovers up for you to take with you when you go. We thoroughly enjoy seeing families and friends gather together in all of our spaces, but especially when it is a special occasion that they want Backyard Taco to be a part of.

Dr. Tyler loves tacos! He is one of the owners of Backyard Taco, and can sometimes be found moonlighting there at night or on the weekends.
Dr. Tyler Robison is an alum of Mesa’s Mountain View High School. He graduted from Brigham Young University before being accepted to the “Top Ten-nationally ranked” University of Louisville in Kentucky, where he earned his Doctorate in Dental Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology. He graduated with honors in the top ten percent of his class. Dr. Robison continued at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, where he received a second master’s degree in dental science and his orthodontic certification.
Dr. Tyler enjoys serving in his community. He is a provider for the Smile Back Foundation, which offers scholarships for free dental treatment to underprivileged East Valley students. He is also a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve and served during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2008.
Dr. Tyler Robison’s favorite pastimes include spending time with his family on the lake, at the beach, or on the slopes. He is an avid and crazy snowboarder! He has three incredible sons and one sweet daughter: Caden, Jace, Crew, and Bliss.
