With the growing demand for Authentic Mexican Food in Mesa, we decided to open a third Backyard Taco location on Stapley in Mesa for all to enjoy. This restaurant is our biggest location yet and even offers a drive-thru for those who want to take our food home to enjoy in their own backyards.
Backyard Taco is a free-standing building in the parking lot of the Mesa Grand shopping center. Easy to find, situated on the east side of Stapley Road, just north of Baseline near the AMC movie theater. With plenty of seating inside and a beautiful well-lit patio for dining at night, this location also offers a drive-thru window. Convenient, just south of the (60) freeway, take the Stapley Rd exit.

The food was very good. I really enjoyed the pork tacos which was surprising because I am not a fan of pinnapple. The staff was not the greatest though. I live closer to a smaller location but decided to drive a little further to a larger location thinking I would get better service. I sat for a while going over the menu since I was a first time customer and got my families orders and finally got in line to place my order once the crowds were gone. I waited patiently because the cashier was stocking up on lids so I was giving her a moment to get caught up. Another customer walked up in front of me and she just stopped what she was doing to help him knowing I was there waiting. She finished with him and her lids then decided to acknowledge me to let me know she was ready to take my order. I would have expected much better service for being a first time customer and for spending about 75 dollars on a large order. I don't think bigger is always better so next time I think I will take my business to the smaller location closer to me. Hopefully I will get better service there.

I stopped by today for a work lunch treat and was pleasantly surprised that everything was still good! I ordered a pick up for the office, and there were some issues during the pick-up, but the service was very helpful! We ordered tacos and quesadillas! The salsas were all so good and had the flavor. My birria quesadilla was exceptionally delicious and can't wait to come back.
This place is very cute and has a fun vibe but the food itself is pretty subpar for the price. Almost four dollars for a street taco is a bit excessive. It is a great place for a large group though.
